HEALTH (NGIMA)

Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. In Dholuo, health is known as ngima , and ngima also means life. Sickness is known as "tuo", while desease is also known tuo, diseases (tuoche).

The concept of health encompasses various dimensions:

Physical Health (Ngima mar del): This refers to the overall condition of the body and its ability to perform daily activities without undue fatigue or physical stress. It includes factors such as nutrition, exercise, rest, and freedom from illness or injury.

Mental Health(Ngima mar wich): Mental health involves emotional well-being, cognitive function, and the ability to cope with stress and adversity. It encompasses aspects like emotional stability, self-esteem, resilience, and the ability to form and maintain healthy relationships.

Environmental Health (Ngima mar alwuora): This dimension considers the impact of the external environment on health, including factors like air and water quality, access to clean resources, exposure to toxins, and living conditions.

Spiritual Health (Ngima mar chuny): Spiritual health involves finding meaning and purpose in life, connecting with one's beliefs, values, and sense of identity, and experiencing inner peace and harmony.
